Robot's consciousness

Today's robots and computers are in a constant state of depression, says Professor Axel Cleeremans. They have no hopes, no desires, not even intentions or preferences. With his research, Cleeremans aims to find out how could an artificial system, say a computer, have subjective experience. This question is intertwined with the mystery of human consciousness. If we solve one of the questions, probably we have solved the other one too.
