ESOF Science Plane 2016
The adventures of
the first Hungarian student delegation
at the EuroScience Open Forum!
THE
SCIENCE PLANE
MISSION
The aim of the Science Plane project is to bring the first official Hungarian university delegation to Manchester, to participate at the EuroScience Open Forum, the largest scientific forum in Europe.
The EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) is a biennial, pan-European, interdisciplinary conference, open to the general public. In every two years, it attracts thousands of participants to different European cities (like Stockholm, Barcelona, Copenhagen or Manchester) hosting the forum since 2004.
The main goal of ESOF is science communication and public outreach, all over Europe. At the same time, ESOF is a unique platform, engaging leading scientists (often Nobel Laureates), policymakers, journalists, young researchers, students and the general public in discussions over the latest discoveries and invites them to debate the direction that research is taking in science and technology. The conference is coupled to satellite events such as concerts, expositions, outdoor events: it literally brings science out of the ivory tower!
This year will be the very first occasion that an entire Hungarian student delegation from the ELTE can also share this incredible ESOF experience! The project came upon the partnership of the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and the ESOF-organiser European nonprofit association, Euroscience. Further support has been provided by the ELTE Hallgatói Alapítvány (ELTE University Students’ Foundation). The members of the delegation will participate at VIP programmes, meet other delegations and interview some of the speakers and participants. They will deliver a first-hand report on such events that are barely known in Hungary.
The team aims to report on the ESOF and on their adventures in Manchester. They will publish their self-made contents (articles, posts, pictures, videos and podcasts) on their own website, blog and Facebook page. To prepare the students to these challenges, they participate at preparatory meetings with Imre Limpár professional coach/career advisor; Attila Vörös photographer or Andrea Joós journalist/radio presenter.
The Science Plane Team attempts to bring closer the ESOF experience to the Hungarian public and to open new perspectives on recent scientific questions… through the eyes of the talents of Hungary.
