What is graphene?

Have you ever heard about graphene? If not, the time has come now! Graphene is practically one layer of graphite. Okay, stop, but first what’s graphite? Of course, everybody knows the graphite pencil, but do you know its structure too? So graphite is a form of carbon, it has a layered, planar structure. In each layer, the carbon atoms are arranged in a honeycomb lattice, in which one atom forms each vertex. So now you know the structure of graphite, but how about the graphene? You can imagine the graphite as a book with lots of pages and these pages are the graphene layers, so we can take off every page until there is only one left. And that is graphene! Check out the video! Maybe it will help you imagine it! ;) And what all this is worth for?! Check out our upcoming post, we will talk about that too! :)
