Balázs

TÖRÖK

Balázs is a Science Communication M.Sc. student, who has previously earned a B.Sc. degree in Geography.

He is currently working at a small media company and he is very much interested in various fields of science communication.

He also worked at the ELTE Faculty of Science’s newspaper for overall 6 years: first as a columnist, finishing by becoming editor-in-chief for 2 years.

He has presented a project on gamification in education to the Scientific Conference of University Students at the ELTE, which got awarded and nominated to a national level.

Apart of these activities, Balázs remains close to science education even in his free time: he has created a boardgame entitled “The Hungarian Moguls of the Belle Époque”. The boardgame uses gamification elements, so that it turns education into fun! It themes the industrialization era of Hungary at the end of the 19th century: the players can put themselves into the shoes of main Hungarian industrial moguls, while they learn about culture, history, art and architecture.

At ESOF2016 Balázs also aims to give more visibility to this project at an international level.

WHAT BRINGS HIM
