Gabriella is a biologist PhD who attended the ELTE between 2004-2009. She prepared her M.Sc. diploma in biology at the Strasbourg University thank to the excellency scholarship of the French Government and the French Embassy in Hungary. Following her M.Sc. studies she undertook her PhD training at the University of Strasbourg and at the IGBMC excellency research institute. She defended her PhD with the congratulations of the jury in november 2015.

Gabriella has already started her research at her 2nd B.Sc. year at the ELTE, where she studied embryonic autophagy in a microscopic model organism. She became co-author of two international research articles, presented her work at one international and several local and national conferences, among which she gave an award-winning talk. For her achievements she has been awarded the "Excellent Student of the Faculty" prize.

As a doctoral researcher, her work focused on the embryonic development of the same model organism. She prepared an award-winning poster, became the first author of an online book chapter, participated at an international workshop at the Curie Institute, presented her work at different conferences in France, at the prestigeous Gordon Research Conference in Italy or at the Asia-Pacific C. elegans Meeting in Japan.

In parallel to her research interest, Gabriella has always been passionate about science communication, public engagement and talent management: she has nearly ten years of experience in this field. She started out in 2007 as the vice-chairwoman of the Scientific Students Associations in Biology (BTDK) at the ELTE, organising winter schools and the prestigeous Undergraduate Researchers' Conference. Ever since she has organised numerous conferences, including an international PhD symposium in biomedical research. She initiated, organised and moderated career fairs at the ELTE and took part in the organisation of Pint of Science Strasbourg. She has been both participant and moderator of round table discussions in France and in Hungary, she was an invited member of the ELTE Career Center's job shadowing programme. She has experience in podcasting, video making, science theatre scatch writing and acting, article writing  both for the academic and fo the general public. She gained experience as a science educator in schools, science fairs, charity events and other public outreach projects.

She is the founder and leader of the "IQ therapy" Hungarian science communication group, that organises popular science lectures, science cafés and maintains a Facebook page.

Fluent in French and English she has been a delegation member of the University of Strasbourg, in the framework of the "Science Train" project in Copenhagen at the ESOF2014.

Inspired by this fantastic experience she initiated, organised and leads the ELTE&Euroscience's "Science Plane 2016" project aiming to bring the ESOF experience to Hungary.

WHAT BRINGS HER

TO ESOF 2016?

“I have always been engaged in science communication and talent management. I found that ESOF is the perfect opportunity to merge these activities with inspirative inputs that I esteemed  worth to share and bring to Hungary.

ESOF itself is such a fantastic  experience that our students in Hungary can't even imagine. I am thrilled and enthousiastic that I could bring this opportunity to them and I could make this project come true.

Our team members are very talented young scientists who absolutely deserve their participation at this forum.

I am convinced that they will greatly benefit from this project and I hope they will enjoy ESOF as much as I do.”
