HORVÁTH

Lilla is a Biology M.Sc. student at the ELTE since 2015, specialized in Molecular-, Immun-, and Microbiology.

She has started her research in biology already as a B.Sc. student in the joint reasearch Group of Peptide Chemistry at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the ELTE. Her research focuses on the characterization of antituberculotic compounds and on their evaluation.

She is familiar with flow cytometry, with fluorescent microscopy, with spectrofluirometrics or even with solid phase peptide synthesis.

She has already presented her research project at several conferences, namely at the Scientific Conference of University Students at the ELTE or at the Semmelweis International Students’ Conference, for which she received the 1st place.

She speaks both English and German, she has programming skills and her hobby is triathlon: she participates at the Ironman competition for fun!

Besides her other activities in the frame of the Science Plane project, she contributed to the edition of this webpage.

I got very excited about the possibility of participating at ESOF, because this conference is dedicated to the interaction between different fields and I enjoy working on interdisciplinary topics. I am especially looking forward to the talks where speakers from different fields present their view of a subject, just like 'Regression to the pre-antibiotic era: time to panic?'.

It would be useful to hear not only from technical topics, but from social and economic aspects as well. My research on tuberculosis taught me that these factors also play a big role in the spread of illnesses.

WHAT BRINGS HER

TO ESOF 2016?

"I am looking forward to the 'alternative' forms of discussion, e.g round table and debates. This conference is more interactive than others; there are more opportunities to get to know fellow researchers from different fields.

I think the ESOF would be a great experience for me. I want to participate in the Healthy Populations field, because I could learn new techniques and I would hear many interesting presentations in a broad field of themes.”
